I have my Sony DSC-TX7 got from Amazon a few days ago. The first impression - is very small and thin. Feels very solid and a dark blue color looks very good. A bracelet was already connected in the factory, otherwise you can easily slip out of hand. I recently purchased this camera to replace a larger Fuji. I wanted more portability, but worried that I would miss the more powerful zoom of my older camera (6 yrs old). We took this on a trip to the zoo and could not be happier. It will definately satisfy those who are back in the market for a good, easy to use camera. I’m a point-and-shoot, “leave it on automatic” sort of girl. I left a photo that we took with this camera in the customer images section (it’s a bird being fed birdseed in the zoo)…check it out, this camera is awesome!

When the Sony Alpha range of cameras was first announced, many photographers were excited by the potential that an electronics giant like Sony could bring to the digital camera market. Up until recently, Sony has spent most of its time and energies developing entry level Alpha cameras, but that strategy is now beginning to change, and Sony now looks committed to expanding its range of midrange and professional level cameras. The A700 was the first step along this path, but the recent release of the A500 and A550 go a long way to underline this commitment to expand the Alpha range.
When Sony released the A700 in September 2007, it was clear from the spec sheet that this was a camera that they wanted to be taken seriously. The A700 has a 12.4 MP CCD and rugged metal body which serves to protect the sensetive electronics onboard. With 11 Auto Focus points and precision sensors the camera has excellent focusing properties. To help keep out dirt and water, gaskets were added around the buttons, and the camera can use either Sony Memory Stick cards or CF memory cards for storage. It comes with a useful wireless remote, a 3″ hi-res LCD screen, and the obligatory Sony anti-shake system, Super SteadyShot. The A700 can shoot at up to 5 frames per second, but has no live view, flip out LCD, or HD movie modes. A replacement 7 series is expected soon, and will likely address at least one of these concerns.
